COMPANY HISTORY:
Walter Bros. Auctioneers history began when David E. Walter sold his first auction in 1936. A few years later his brother Austin R. Walter joined him and thus Walter Bros. Auctioneers was born. Dave & Aus sold many auctions during the time the small farmer was leaving the farms. Also they sold livestock auctions at the local stockyards throughout Ohio. Austin passed away in 1963. At that time Ben joined his father in the real estate and auction businesses. Tom joined Dave and Ben a few years later. David passed away in 1971. Ben and Tom continued in the auction business as Walter Bros. and soon became incorporated. Walter Real Estate continued with Ben Walter as Broker.
Ben and Gloria Walter have 3 daughters, Deb Gosche, Patty Lucas & Cindy Sparks, a son, Matt and 7 grandchildren. Gloria, Deb & Patty.
Ben’s son, Matt , graduated from Repperts School of Auctioneering in 1990 later receiving his real estate sales and brokers licenses. He is a business graduate from the University of Findlay and has a daughter Katelyn.
Ben’s grandson, Kris Gosche, a 2006 graduate of Repperts School of Auctioneering. Kris works with is father, Jim Gosche of Gosche Putnam Masonry and is a 2006 business graduate from Ohio State University
Tom and Donna Walter have 2 daughters, Leah & Lana, 2 sons, Craig & Kurt and 6 grandchildren. Donna is a retired registered nurse.
Mary Miller joined Walter Bros. in 1985 in the auction preparation service and later that year came into the office as secretary. She and her husband, Jim, have 1 daughter, Michelle and 2 sons, JR & CJ and 7 grandchildren. Jim works at Whirlpool.
